Coral Reef Restoration

Active Restoration of Puerto Rico's Coral Reefs

About This Project

Our Coral Reef Restoration program represents hands-on, active intervention to restore degraded coral reef ecosystems. Through systematic collection, cultivation, and outplanting of coral fragments, we work to rebuild reef structure and enhance coral populations across multiple sites in Puerto Rico.

The restoration process involves careful fragment collection from donor colonies, preparation and securing of fragments to substrate, monitoring of growth and survival, and long-term maintenance. Our techniques include both direct attachment methods and platform stabilization systems to ensure coral fragments successfully establish and grow into new colonies.

Type: Active Restoration, Habitat Enhancement
